Prayer and Fasting for GAFCON - Day 13

Opening Verse
O send out thy light and thy truth, that they may lead me, and bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy dwelling. Psalm xliii. 3.

A Psalm of Ascent

BLESSED are all they that fear the LORD, * and walk in his ways.

BLESSED are all they that fear the LORD, * and walk in his ways.

For thou shalt eat the labours of thine hands: * O well is thee, and happy shalt thou be.
Thy wife shall be as the fruitful vine * upon the walls of thine house;
Thy children like the olive-branches * round about thy table.

BLESSED are all they that fear the LORD, * and walk in his ways.

Lo, thus shall the man be blessed * that feareth the LORD.
The LORD from out of Sion shall so bless thee, * that thou shalt see Jerusalem in prosperity all thy life long;
Yea, that thou shalt see thy children's children, * and peace upon Israel.

BLESSED are all they that fear the LORD, * and walk in his ways.

The One Hundred Twenty Eighth Psalm, 1928 Book of Common Prayer (USA)

From this Morning's Psalm
Let the mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Judah be glad, * because of thy judgments.
Walk about Sion, and go round about her; * and tell the towers thereof.
Mark well her bulwarks, consider her palaces, * that ye may tell them that come after.
For this God is our God for ever and ever: * he shall be our guide unto death.
GLORY be to the Father, and to the Son, * and to the Holy Ghost;

AS it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
The Forty-Eighth Psalm, 1928 BCP (USA)

Prayer
Let your GAFCON pilgrims delight in your judgments, O Lord. As your pilgrim sons and daughters walk about Jerusalem, fill them with your knowledge and wisdom. Inspire them with your eternal glory. Make them teachers and guides for your people around the world. We ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

From the First Morning Lesson
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:6-9, NLT

Prayer
Lord God, you raise up chosen leaders in every generation. Prepare the GAFCON pilgrims to be leaders in your church around the world. Give them with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Give them love for Sacred Scripture and fill their mouths with your Word. Let them go out from Jerusalem in the stregth and courage of your presence. We ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

From the Second Morning Lesson
One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”
“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.” For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.
Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.

Luke 5:1-11, NLT

Prayer
Lord Jesus, make you GAFCON pilgrims instantly responsive to you and make them leaders in a church that "fishes for people" for you. In your Name we ask. Amen.

A GAFCON Value
"Veritas means truth which is the vertical relation between God and humanity which is Christ."

Prayer
Father, fill the GAFCON pilgrims with the truth of Christ. Make them true to you through faith in your Son and faithful to Gospel leadership by the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
